"Kahi ‘Uhane Kihei Pua"

the one place where the spirit partially controls and grants a person strength, animation or talent

Hula Anyone’s roots date back to the late 1960s. Kumu Hula (Master Hula Teacher) Mahealani McFarland taught Polynesian dance classes to all ages. For several years she and her dancers brought joy to many senior homes, non-profit organization events, hospitals, local schools, community events and private events. A family emergency took Mahealani back to Oahu and she entrusted Angelita Eller to teach and direct the company.

Angelita Eller and Hula Anyone are dedicated to the preservation of Hawaiian hula and Tahitian dance traditions. We provide a nurturing platform for ages 4-84 years old to learn traditional dance forms. Hula Anyone is a consistent source of positive energy and a forum for the constant requests to create hula for different languages, origins and genres as well as to personalize hula based on occasion. The fluid, adaptive nature of Hula Anyone has helped to keep all the dances original, dynamic and fresh.

Hula Anyone has drawn great Kumu Hulas and legendary musicians to Santa Barbara to grace all of our historical theatres, educational institutions, as well as many halls and private estates. Hula Anyone’s dancers have been featured in the Santa Barbara Summer Solstice Parade and Downtown Holiday Parade, Concerts in the Park, as well as at venues such as the Granada Theatre, Lobero Theatre, Marjorie Luke Theatre, and Soho. Hula Anyone is also one of the founders of the original Santa Barbara Outrigger Canoe Club.

Hula Anyone Inc is a 501(C) non-profit (Tax ID 87-4565201). Contact us for more information about how your donation can help us support the arts in the greater Santa Barbara community.
